Turtle Mt. Indians allege feds mismanage their lands

April 29th, 2008

Citizens of the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians are trying to figure out what happened to their lands. The federal government allotted land to Chippewa Indians in North Dakota, South Dakota and Montana, but landowners say no one kept track of their property — or the activities that occurred on it.

The Turtle Mountain Allottee Association is trying to determine what happened. Landowners blame the BIA but an official denied any wrongdoing.

Where did all our land go? why did we have to leave? why are we all fighting for what is rightfully ours and who is living on our land illegal now? I heard Jiggers lAfrombois is still on our rez, Why isnt he living on his own. or is he still there? When he was in office at the old building in cap. I heard he sold a lot of land that he waS NOT ENTITLED TO, SO WHERE IS HE AT NOW? I hope that every one starts getting more involvednthisyr.

I heard that each enrolled member of the turtle mountain tribe is to get a $25,000 check, can anyone confirm this?

That would be retarted if all enrolled members only got 25,000 this is black gold we’re talking about… you people should be getting millions for that oil.. I would try and get every penny possible. I would ask for something in the billions depending on how much oil the reservation had and if there is a lot I would ask for more. Hope and pray that your tribal gov. don’t jump at the first lump sum of cash hold out and talk serious business. Get Rich Turtle Mountain
