Indians and Queen Elizabeth II

December 18th, 2006

In November, representatives of the Mohegan Tribal Council presented a peace pipe to Queen Elizabeth II.  The Queen and the Tribal Council were attending a funeral blessing for the Mohegan Sachem Mohamet Weyonomon who died of smallpox in 1736 when he was in England petitioning George II for the return of lands taken by British colonists.
