There is a new way to register:

1. Go to the CALI Registration page

2. Fill in the form, using L&C Law’s Super Secret Student Authorization code. So secret, in fact, that we mustn’t post in the open.

How to acquire the secret authorization code:
      a. Via email: we’ll send it out to the L&C Law student listserv, or
      b. Go to our CALI-at-Boley page. Note: If you are off-campus, you will have to input your L&C law email username and password for access (that’s how we keep it secret!), or
      c. Stop by or call the Reference desk, (503) 768-6688

3. Once registered, go to the CALI Lessons Home, login, and get started. You will receive an email confirming your registration

Library Closed Saturday, Feb. 28

February 26th, 2004

On Saturday, Feb. 28, 2004 the Law Library will be closed all day for extensive evaluation and testing of the structural integrity of the roof.

You may have noticed the temporary posts throughout the library. The posts are not holding the roof up, but are there as a safety precaution in case the roof beams bow any more. The results of the testing on Feb. 28, will help determine, what, if anything, needs to be done about the current problem.

Wood Hall study areas and the Computer Labs will remain open on Saturday, Feb. 28. The Law Library resumes regular hours on Sunday, Feb. 29, at 9:00 am. The Watzek Library on the upper Lewis & Clark campus is open on Saturdays from 11:00 am – 7:00 pm.

Thanks for your patience and understanding.

Jacket & Coat Thieves About

February 26th, 2004

There has been a rash of jacket/coat thefts from both the Law Library and the Watzek library in the past month or two. Please don’t leave valuables unattended in the library.

Campus Safety reports this info:
“Since the beginning of the semester we have taken ten reports of stolen jackets/coats from people here at the college. 7 of the 10 have been in either the Boley Library(5) or Watzek Library (2). 9 of the 10 are women’s jackets. Slightly more than half of them are of Goretex fabric, so they are high-end type jackets or coats.”

Using Your Laptop On Your Desktop

Laptop Docking Stations

Here’s a helpful article from LLRX.com’s Burney’s Gadgets for Legal Pros Column about docking stations and port replicators for laptops.

Pretty helpful if you have a laptop that you want to plug into devices like keyboards, mice, scanners, printers, and monitors when you aren’t on the road. Or in class. Or, say, in the library.
