Services for Law School Alumni
Library Access
As an alum you are considered a member of the “Legal Community” and are welcome to use the Law Library during the same hours as students. Although the group study rooms are for student use, it is permissible to use them during the summer while you are studying for the Bar Exam.
Reference Service
Take advantage of the expertise of the Reference Librarians after you graduate! Feel free to call the Reference Desk with research questions and we'll be happy to help with suggestions for sources and tips for both online searching as well as efficient use of the Boley Law Library collection. Also, don't forget the Library's Web page is worth bookmarking for its extensive collection of links for online legal research as well as access to the library catalog.
Circulation
L&C Law Alumni have lifetime borrowing privileges. As a graduate of the law school you have full circulation privileges and may check-out regularly circulating library materials. Make sure to get your Lewis & Clark Law School Alumni card from the Alumni office. The first time you check out materials as an Alum you will need to show your Alumni card and update your library record.
Databases (available On-Campus)
The Library subscribes to several legal research databases which are free from on-campus. Among these are the online citators Keycite and Shepard’s, state and federal primary law from Westlaw, the HeinOnline Law Journal Library and the BNA All online library which includes over 100 BNA titles.
Wood Hall Computer Labs and Network Access
For newly graduated alums, your Novell account will remain valid until mid-August of the year you graduate. If you wish to use the computer labs or connect a personal laptop to the network after mid-August, you will need to set up an Alumni Novell account by registering as an Alum with the Law School Computing Services Department. Find out more about our Network Access Policy. Contact Brian Cutler at bcutler@lclark.edu (office across from the Wood Hall computer labs) to set up a new account.
Access to your Lewis & Clark e-mail account extends for about one year after graduation. Additionally, be sure to check in with the Alumni Office for more information about a program called “Lifetime E-mail Forwarding.”
Attorney Services
Attorney Services is a document delivery fee-based service available to lawyers. Services include copying of cases, statutes, articles, etc., and delivery via fax, mail, or courier to downtown Portland.
