The Library staff expects and welcomes questions. Our job is to attempt to answer them. Sometimes, however, the person you ask assistance from may not know the answer to your particular question. In that case he or she will refer you to someone else. Each person has his or her specialties and the staff wants to give you the best possible service. Carla Almaraz - Head of Instructional Technology

This is a new position in the library. Carla's primary goal is to work to remove technological barriers and enhance the teaching process using state-of-the-art technology so that faculty can focus on teaching, research, learning and collaborating with other institutions. Carla received her B.S. in Business Administration and is pursuing a master's degree from the University of Phoenix. Previously, Carla was the Director of Computing Services at the law school and worked for Hughes Training in California from as a Systems Engineer/Project Manager on numerous Air Force aircraft training projects.
Jeff R. Allman - Digital Resources Coordinator

Jeff provides web, database, multimedia, and other digital services to faculty, staff, and students of the Law Library. He develops and maintains the Boley website, databases, and online catalog. Jeff Allman holds degrees in Art and Communications from Willamette University.
Yvonne Bienert - Senior Library Assistant/Operations

Yvonne provides secretarial and systems support to the Law Library staff. Yvonne is responsible for developing systems of information management and statistical reporting and prepares monthly billings for the Attorney Services program. Before joining the staff, she was Office Manager for Ballet Oregon and Administrative Assistant to Departmental Supervisors at the Crippled Children's Division of the University of Oregon Health Sciences Center.
Alana H. Carson - Reader Services Librarian

Alana manages the daily activities at the Circulation Desk, supervises both staff and student employees, maintains the reserve collection, insures the integrity of the stacks, and oversees the exam database. She also provides reference desk services to library patrons. Alana has a B.A. in Psychology from California State University Northridge and a J.D. from Northwestern School of Law.
Dianne Ensign - Senior Library Assistant/Technical Services

Dianne has general processing duties in the Acquisitions Department, including ordering new Library materials, claiming overdue orders, processing gift items and general problem solving. She has a B.A. in Literature from Portland State University. Previous positions include interlibrary loan, cataloging and acquisitions at the Multnomah County Library, and positions at the U.S. Attorney's Office and Federal Executive Board.
Katy DiVittorio – Circulation Attendant

Katy manages the Circulation Desk during the evenings and weekends, assists patrons, supervises student employees, and assists with loose-leaf and
microfiche filing. Katy has a B.A. in Psychology from Seattle University. Previous positions include Library Assistant at Brooks Institute of Photography and Technical Services Assistant at the Seattle University Law Library.
Kathy Faust - Assistant Director for Technical Services

Kathy supervises the ordering, receipt, cataloging and classification of new Library materials and participates in the activities of the Reference Desk. Kathy has a B.A. in German from Lewis & Clark College and a Masters in Library Science from the University of Wisconsin at Madison. Prior to her arrival at the Boley Law Library in 1978, she was Cataloging Librarian at Illinois State University. Before assuming her current position, Kathy was our Cataloging Librarian. Kathy also spent 6 months at the University of Otago in Dunedin, New Zealand as part of a job exchange and was responsible for cataloging serials and law materials.
Audrey Ferrie - Serials Assistant

Audrey is responsible for the sorting and distribution of the mail, shelving new materials, looseleaf filing, and preparing materials for the bindery.
Jackie Foster - Processing Assistant

Jackie is responsible for processing new books and materials, maintaining and repairing the collection (i.e., call numbers, stamping, location tape, etc.), looseleaf filing for the faculty and assisting in the barcoding of multivolume sets. Jackie is a native of Portland and attended Portland Community College.
Tami Gierloff - Associate Director

Tami assists the Associate Dean Library and Information Services with the daily administration of the Library, coordinates departmental activities and helps plan for future library building and technology needs. She also provides reference assistance to library users, and occasionally teaches Advanced Legal Research. Tami received her B.A. from the Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington and both her J.D. and Masters of Librarianship from the University of Washington. Prior to joining our staff in 1994, she spent four years as a Reference Librarian at the University of Minnesota Law Library.
Seneca Gray - Assistant Director, Reference and Research Services

Seneca provides Reference service to library patrons, teaches Advanced Legal Research and is responsible for the day to day management of the Patent and Trademark Depository collection. Seneca received a B.S. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, a J.D. from Northwestern School of Law and an M.L.S. from Emporia State University. He has worked in various libraries throughout the United States.
Wendy Schroeder Hitchcock - Reference Librarian

Wendy provides reference service to library patrons. Wendy has a B.A. in English Literature from the University of Massachusetts, a Master of Librarianship from the University of South Carolina, and a J.D. from the University of Oregon. She worked at the Oregon State Bar as a publications attorney editing CLE publications, and has also been a lobbyist, a jury consultant, and an attorney in private practice. Wendy was head of Public Services at Ohio Northern University Law School Library for 3 years and has worked in both public and university libraries as a reference librarian. While working for the Oregon State Bar, Wendy occasionally proctored the bar exams, and encourages students to talk to her about bar exam horror stories.
Jorge Juarez - Reference Librarian

Jorge received a B.A. from Duke University, a J.D. from St. Mary's University and an M.L.I.S. from the University of Washington. Most recently, he worked as a reference librarian at Santa Clara University School of Law.
Kim Jurney - Reader Services Assistant

Kim is responsible for processing interlibrary loan materials and reproducing library materials for faculty. Kim has a B.A. in history from Miami University and an M.A. in English-TESOL from Portland State University. Most recently, she taught English as a Second Language at Lewis & Clark College.
Peter Nycum - Professor of Law and Associate Dean

Peter is the chief administrator of the Law Library and is responsible for policy decisions and the direction of the Law Library. Professor Nycum, who also teaches Legal History, has a B.A. in English Writing, and a J.D. and Masters in Library and Information Science from the University of Pittsburgh. His legal information career began with pioneering the legal information retrieval project at the Health Law Center of the University of Pittsburgh in the early 1960s, a systems effort that predates both LEXIS and WESTLAW. Before joining the Law School faculty in 1978, Professor Nycum was Assistant Director of the Allegheny County Law Library in Pittsburgh, Manager of User Services for the Stanford University Computer Center and Director of the San Mateo County Law Library in the San Francisco Bay area. He also developed and ran his own microfilm publishing company, Legal Information Science Corp., before it was acquired by Xerox Corporation.

Liana Rein - Serials/Acquisitions Specialist

Liana is responsible for the acquisition, distribution and maintenance of the entire serials collection. She has a B.M. in Music Therapy from the University of the Pacific in California. Prior to joining the Library staff, she worked in circulation at the Tualatin Public Library and in the Technical Services Department of the Library at the University of the Pacific.
Laurisa Stubblefield - Accounts Manager

Laurisa is responsible for the Library budget and maintaining the accounts. She prepares annual and statistical reports for the Library and Business office. Laurisa has a B.A. in Communication Studies from the University of Iowa. She worked as an assistant to the Law School's budget director for two years before joining the library staff in 2003. Past professional lives include work in conference management, public relations and marketing for both private and public sector employers.
Rob Truman - Head of Electronic Information Services

Rob coordinates the Law Library's collection of online databases, indices and CALI materials, and is the Law Library Webmaster. He provides reference services to library patrons and is available for training on electronic and print resources. He also teaches Advanced Legal Research. Rob received his B.A. from the University of Vermont, his J.D. from Northwestern School of Law and M.L.S. from Emporia State University.
Lynn Williams - Assistant Director for Reader Services

Lynn supervises and administers Reader Services for the students, faculty and other Library users. Lynn also provides Reference Desk assistance. She supervises interlibrary loan activities and processes student and faculty requests for materials. Lynn has a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Alaska. Previous positions include the University of Alaska, the Anchorage School District, and the Communicative Disorders Program in Anchorage. She has worked in Serials, Acquisitions and was the Circulation Librarian at our Library before assuming her present position.
