Named as one of Michigan’s Top Ten Lawyers in 1998 for her legal work in the animal protection field, Ginny Mikita, Esq. will share the everyday realities of an animal law practice, tips on getting started and thoughts on the future of animal law. Ms. Mikita is introduced by Katherine Lin, Co-Director of the Student Animal League Defense Fund (SALDF).

Since graduating from Notre Dame Law School in 1991, Ginny has served as PETA Associate Counsel, an ALDF Intern and Michigan Humane Society Lobbyist. Six years ago, she opened the doors to her own firm in Michigan, a concentration of which is animal law. Her husband, Bob Kruse ‘90, a Lewis & Clark Law School graduate, practices with her.

Ms. Mikita is the author of a number of articles including “Is Your Parachute Ready to Make the Jump?” and “My Life as an Animal Lawyer” published in Healing Garden (2003).
