Lewis & Clark Student Animal Legal Defense Fund (SALDF) and National Center for Animal Law (NCAL) hosted the 14th Annual Animal Law Conference Market Revolution: Recognizing Animals’ Intrinsic Values.
For as long as humans continue to eat farm animals, there will be need for improved legislation to protect these animals. Although farm animals have gained minimal protections over the years, the regulations are far from being effective. This panel will discuss the current status of the law as it applies to farm animals and the efforts being made to provide farm animals with greater protections. Carter Dillard, Director of Farm Animal Litigation at the The Humane Society of the United States will discuss current state and federal litigation; Nancy Perry, Vice President of Government Affairs for The Humane Society of the United States will discuss legislative efforts on the state and federal level; and David J. Wolfson, partner with Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy will discuss international advancements.
The program was held at Lewis & Clark Law School in Portland, Oregon on October 14, 2006.
