Patents & Trademarks

The Boley Law Library is also the home of a United States Patent and Trademark Depository Library. You may come in and visit our library to conduct research on patents and/or trademarks. We cannot do research for patrons. Patrons must come in to the library themselves to do research. We can assist you in how to use the computers, databases and other tools available to help you.

The Patent and Trademark Library is open during the following hours ONLY:

Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m., Fridays from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m., and Saturdays from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m.

These hours are subject to change without notice.

Feel free to call 503.768.6786 for any questions about the Patent and Trademark Depository Library.

Patent and Trademark research may also be done online at the web site of the United States Patent and Trademark Office. If you are new to patent searching, a good starting point is the PTDL 7-Step Strategy. The seven listed steps include links to search tools that help you with your search. If you are new to trademark searching, a good starting point is the Introduction to the Trademark Electronic Search System.

The closest other Patent and Trademark Depository Libraries are in Seattle, Washington; Moscow, Idaho; and Sacramento, California. You can also check the Complete List of Patent and Trademark Depository Libraries.
