LexisNexis has made a number of changes to their login procedures, all in the name of privacy and security. These changes are now active, so don’t be surprised when you try to log in to LexisNexis and are asked to create a new ID.
The two key changes are, in short:
1. You must create a “Custom ID” and password if you have not already done so. 7-digit LexisNexis IDs will no longer gain you access. To create your own Custom ID & password combo:
- Go to the LexisNexis Law School Registration page
- Choose the options under either New students/faculty/staff members (if this is your first time using this LexisNexis 7-digit ID) or
Returning law school students/faculty/staff members (returning user who needs to create a Custom ID & password)
- Select Student or Faculty/Staff
- Type your LexisNexis 7-Character ID (now called “activation code”)
- Press Next. On following screen you will select your own Custom ID & password.
2. All law school IDs that have not been used during the past 12 months have been deactivated. Check with a reference librarian (contact info one sentence down) if your LexisNexis ID has been deactivated and would like a new one.
Please contact a Boley Reference Librarian at the reference desk, (503) 768-6688 or lawlib@lclark.edu with any questions or problems concerning your LexisNexis ID.
