Fines on Overdue Reserve Materials to Increase Feb. 1

January 31st, 2007

We have noted a marked increase in demand of Reserve materials – current course casebooks, hornbooks, nutshells, outlines, law summaries and other study aids, Oregon State Bar CLEs, etc. Unfortunately, we also are seeing a concomitant increase in the late return of those materials.

Thus, the Law Library is increasing the fines for overdue Reserve materials to one dollar per hour after the material is one hour overdue. This increase takes effect February 1, 2007.

Here is the full language of our Reserve materials circulation policy:

Reserve materials may by checked out from the Circulation Desk for a period of three hours. Reserve materials may be checked out overnight beginning 3 hours before closing time. These materials are due at 8:00 a.m. the following day (Monday-Friday), 9:00 a.m. (Saturday & Sunday). Failure to return Reserve materials promptly will result in the user’s loss of Library privileges. A fine of $1.00 per hour will be assessed after the material is one hour overdue. The borrower may be billed the replacement cost of the material, a $30.00 non-refundable fine, and the overdue charges if the material is not returned within 24 hours.

Read all of our circulation and overdue policies. Thanks for your assistance in ensuring that all have access to these valuable materials.

Lewis & Clark in the Snow – New Photos Added 1/24

January 17th, 2007

With the Law School and College closed for a two-day ’snow event’ January 16-17, we took a few snapshots to mark the rare occasion.

Since we posted our photographs of LC in the snow, Julia Smith of NCVLI and Brienne Carpenter of the Office of the Associate Dean for Faculty have kindly sent us their collections. Also, the SBA’s Snow Days! Photo Competition is underway. Check it out – we’ve added that link below as well.

If you didn’t choose to brave the icy roads yourself, please get a taste of Lewis & Clark under snow via these sets of photos:

Thanks to Julia and Brienne for sharing their photos. If you have photos of same that you would like to share, let us know at lawlib@lclark.edu. We’d love to be all ‘Web 2.0′ and post your photos (or links to your photos) of our school in the snow!
