Westlaw Opening Multitude of Pages: Here’s the Fix
August 26th, 2009We’ve run into a bug with Westlaw that starts opening a seemingly endless (until your computer crashes, that is) number of windows as soon as you login to your Westlaw (or TWEN) account.
This problem is only affecting folks using Internet Explorer 7 in Windows Vista. Windows XP and Mac OS X do not seem to be affected, and neither do IE 6 nor 8.
Here is the quick fix:
- Open Internet Explorer
- Click Tools – Internet Options
- Choose the Security Tab
- Click the Internet Zone
- Be sure the “Enable Protected Mode” check box is checked - Click the Trusted Sites Zone
- Be sure the “Enable Protected Mode” check box is checked - Click OK
While you are in there, be sure to also make sure that you’ve checked your cookies (all browsers), pop-up blocker (all browsers), trusted sites (IE only), and download (IE only) settings. Otherwise you may not be able to print, download, or even view PDFs on Westlaw.
