Updated for Fall 2022 semester: Please see our Coronavirus Response Site for the latest Boley Law Library information related to the COVID-19 pandemic. This includes any changes to building hours, borrowing, and ways you can receive support.
There are generally two approaches to locating foreign laws—by jurisdiction and by subject. If you don't find what you are looking using one approach, try the other. Persistence and a willingness to try many sources are especially necessary when conducting foreign legal research.
Follow this formula to Google guides on your topic:
[subject] + legal or law + research guide
For example, searching for "International Animal law research guide" yields Georgetown's International and Foreign Animal Law Research Guide.
Be sure to check the currency of any resources you use. Depending on the area of the law, things can change fast, and many online resources aren't updated regularly.
