About the Boley Law Library: Book Donations

Thank you for your interest in donating books to the Boley Law Library

Gifts of both money and materials provide a valuable supplement to the law library’s resource budget and programs.

Procedure for Donating Materials

We accept donated materials that satisfy our collection development policies and fit within our collection needs.  You may be able to donate materials that we do not accept to other organizations.

We ask that you arrange for the delivery of materials to the Law Library as we do not have the personnel or transport to provide this service. Each donor will be sent a letter of acknowledgment. This letter, along with a detailed list of donated materials, may be used to document tax deduction claims.

Please note that we are unable to estimate the value of the donation as IRS regulations (26 CFR sect. 1.170A13) place responsibility for estimating the value of donations upon the donor rather than on the recipient of the gift. Check here for the most recent schedule of suggested values of books found in Oregon law libraries (prepared by the Property Tax Division of the Oregon Department of Revenue, State of Oregon, in cooperation with Multnomah Law Library and the Oregon State Bar).

Contact

The Law Library welcomes the donation of books that enhance learning and support instruction at the Law School. Interested book donors should contact Acquisitions & Circulation Specialist Sarah Hunsberger, at sarahhunsberger@lclark.edu or (503) 768-6692.

Other Options

If we are not in a position to take your donation or you would like to explore other options, please see What Do I Do With These Law Books I Need to Get Rid Of? (Oregon Legal Research Blog, May 2023).
