Law Library Services: Alumni

Boley Law Library Services

Law Library Access

Contact our research librarians for suggestions on access to the information you need, as well as contacting our local county law libraries. See below for contact information and chat links. Our alums are welcome to make use of our online Zoom study rooms for their group Bar Exam preparation. Find more information and reservation links at lawlib.lclark.edu/studyrooms.

Lifetime Borrowing Privileges

L&C Law Alumni have lifetime borrowing privileges. As a graduate of the law school you have full circulation privileges and may check-out regularly circulating library materials. Make sure to get your Lewis & Clark Law School Alumni card from the Alumni office. The first time you check out materials as an Alum you will need to show your Alumni card and update your library record. Services do not include interlibrary loan or access to Summit borrowing.

Database Access

The library subscribes to several legal research databases which are free to use on campus. Licensing agreements restrict off-campus access to currently enrolled students, faculty, and staff. Off-campus access is not available to alumni. Among these are BarBooks, Fastcase, HeinOnline, and ProQuest.

Recently graduated law students have limited continued access to Bloomberg, Lexis, and Westlaw for 6 months:

BLOOMBERG LAW
Graduating students retain access for 6 months after graduation, regardless of whether you graduate in December or May. You do not need to register for an extension. Questions? Contact our Bloomberg Law account manager, Stefanie Schuette, at sslavens@bloomberglaw.com

LEXIS
Graduating students retain access for 6 months after graduation, regardless of whether you graduate in December or May. If you’re working in verifiable 501(c)(3) public interest work, access extends for 12 months after graduation through the Aspire program. More information is available here. Questions? Contact our LexisNexis representative, Jack Steeh, at Jack.steeh@lexisnexis.com.

WESTLAW
Westlaw’s Grad Elite program provides access to Westlaw for 6 months after graduation. Grad Elite gives you access to Westlaw, Practical Law, and Practice Ready solutions for 60 hours per month with no restrictions on use, including for professional and commercial purposes. If you graduated from Lewis & Clark in December 2016 or after, you qualify for access to Westlaw through Grad Elite. Questions? Check out the Grad Elite information page or contact our Westlaw Account Manager, Marc Fong, at MARC.FONG@thomsonreuters.com

Attorney Services

Attorney Services is a document delivery fee-based service available to lawyers. Services include copying of cases, statutes, articles, etc.

Research Services

Take advantage of the expertise of the research librarians after you graduate! Call, chat with, or email research librarians with research questions. They will be happy to provide suggestions for sources and tips for both online searching as well as efficient use of the Boley Law Library collection. Also, don't forget to bookmark the library's website for its extensive collection of links for online legal research as well as access to the library catalog. If you wish to make a reference appointment with one of our librarians, please email the law library with current contact information so a Zoom reference appointment can be set up for you.
