For the past three years students that are 2Ls or above could register for a Certification in Legal Research. We call this program our Prepare to Practice (P2P) program. This certification required attendance at 6 in person workshops and the successful completion of 6 video modules with assessments.
Our goal when we began P2P was to give students an opportunity to learn legal research skills they did not have the opportunity to learn in their classes. However, this stated goal is now achieved through our Legal Research 1 class.
Because of this, we will be ending our Certification in Legal Research at the end of the semester. If you want to be a part of this program, good news: there is still time to complete all of the requirements, but it will take diligence. You can sign up for P2P and begin attending the live workshops, starting with Oregon legislative history on Wednesday, February 5th at 12:10 and again at 4:30 in WH Classroom 7. The next workshop will be Wednesday, February 19th at 12:10 and again at 4:30 in WH Classroom 7 and will be on federal legislative history.
You will have this semester to attend 6 workshops and until August 15th to complete the video module assessments. Because of the deadlines, you may attend up to 2 vendor sponsored live/Zoom legal research workshops (Westlaw, Lexis, or Bloomberg). Please email lawlib@lclark.edu for approval before attending a vendor sponsored workshop for credit.
If you are graduating this semester, you will have until May 7th to complete all of your requirements.
If you have questions, please feel free to contact the law library at lawlib@lclark.edu.
