Professor Samir Parikh was invited to testify in front of the U.S. Senate Committee on the Judiciary on the topic of mass tort bankruptcies and the potential need for legislative intervention. He will testify on Tuesday, September 19th and the library will be streaming it live beginning at 8:00AM.
This invitation to testify was made, in part, based on his forthcoming article Opaque Capital and Mass Tort Financing.
Additional witnesses include: Erik Haas (Johnson & Johnson's Worldwide Vice President, Litigation), Stephen Hessler (Sidley Austin LLP), and Professor Melissa Jacoby (University of North Carolina School of Law). You can read and listen to the testimony and learn more about the witnesses through this ALI article and links.
Curious about the testimony process? You can ask Professor Parikh questions about the process by filling out this form or emailing lawlib@lclark.edu and the library will pass on those questions and compile answers throughout the month of October.
