Preparing to Practice

Using Westlaw

Using 17 USCA §410 find a case that will help you research if a certificate of copyright registration constitutes prima facie evidence of the elements of originality and authorship.

Using Lexis

In 11 USCS §1143, Distribution in a Chapter 11 Bankruptcy, find at least one case from the Notes to Decision that discuss the order of payment.

Case Summaries

Much like secondary sources help us find case law and statutes, case summaries are research tools that help us find case law related to or interpreting the statute. Below you will find an overview video, a how to find case summaries video, and a how to search case summaries video. These videos are followed by a quiz. If you want extra practice using these resources, look at the "Preparing to Practice" section on the bottom left for real life problems using case summaries.
