This legal research guide highlights early federal historic preservation legislation including the Antiquities Act of 1906 and the Historic Sites Act of 1935, along with the 1916 establishment of the National Park Service for the management of public services and national monuments, as well as the creation of the National Trust for Historic Preservation in 1949 to help expediate the public to preserve buildings, sites and objects of national importance.
