Inferior Courts
by
The purpose of the book is to provide a detailed history of the existing and former trial and appellate courts of the United States from 1789 to present (what the Constitution calls the "inferior courts"). The creation and development of the existing federal trial courts is presented on a state-by-state basis, and the creation and development of the existing federal appellate courts is presented on a circuit-by-circuit basis. Also included are the increases in the number of judges of these courts and the development of their jurisdiction. The book is not an account of court decisions.
